My parents moved in a month ago, and we  ...
My parents moved in a month ago, and we are very happy! We toured many facilities before choosing Five Star. Things we noticed about Five Star while touring is that the residents all looked very happy, and many even stopped to tell us how much they love it there. The staff is absolutely amazing. At some of the other places we toured I felt like my parents were just another number for them, but not at Five Star. Everyone there has shown me that they care about the residents, and they have all treated my parents with so much kindness. I couldn't imagine a better place! Thank you Five Star!

My father recently fell and was hospital ...
My father recently fell and was hospitalized. Then he was moved to skilled nursing. I won't name the facility - because it was a nightmare of confusion and poor communication and care. What I will say is that Five Star of Hollywood literally brought sanity back into our lives. They stepped in when we were getting no help. They were able to assess Dad and admit him to their Assisted Living. They moved mountains when the other facility said they were discharging him, but then came to a dead halt when we said we had a place for him to go. No returned phone calls. No answers. No paperwork sent on time. Absolute chaos. And Five Star managed to get through to them and get everything taken care of.
He has turned a corner since the move to Five Star. Better outlook. Better care. Better attitude. Better PT. And we will soon be moving our Mom over to the memory care at Five Star of Hollywood. They will be on the same floor - just different spaces. But they will be able to be together often and both will be safely cared for by people who really know what they are doing!
As we were touring the facility a resident walking by needed some assistance. Darline, who was showing us the areas, very discreetly excused herself and helped the resident return where they could get some assistance. No fuss. No drama. Respectfully, and graciously redirected.
In our transition days, it was very stressful getting paperwork from the skilled nursing. Everyone from Five Star jumped in and got it done.
Making huge decisions for ageing parents is not easy. But Five Star has been nothing but gracious and attentive in helping us navigate this part of the journey.

Five star My mother has been living at F ...
Five star My mother has been living at Five Star Premier Residences in the Independent Living apartment since April of 2024.  It has been a wonderful experience overall. When we started looking for independent living communities “just to see what is available,” Five Star was the first place we stopped to see. Mom and I both had the same impression from the very first moment, which was this was such a friendly, upbeat, and welcoming place. Overwhelmingly positive energy. We met with Darline in on the sales team who is a gem. Darline stayed in close touch with us as we were trying to make the decision and was always ready to answer questions.  Mom and I did visit another property and researched several places online, but nothing compared to Five Star.
The apartment we selected (a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom) is on the fourth floor facing east and has a beautiful view of trees and the small lake in the front of the property. Very peaceful! It originally had a shower/tub combination in the primary bathroom which was not safe given my mother’s mobility issues, and Five Star agreed to have that updated to a walk-in shower.  The unit was painted and was in good shape when mom took occupancy.  The one issue that has been somewhat recurring is with the air conditioning, which has leaked several times (fortunately on a waterproof floor). The maintenance team is fairly responsive (some days less than responsive) and has tried to quickly resolve this issue each time it has happened.
The facilities and programs for the residents are excellent — and, they are in the process of updating paint, carpet, furniture, etc. It looks fantastic.  I have enjoyed several meals with my mother in the restaurant and appreciate all of the variety of options. The quality of the food I would say is generally very good. They also have a small cafe that is open during the day for sandwiches - and the sandwiches are great!
The programming offers several options from musical entertainment, exercise classes, lecture series, etc. Another plus is on-site physical and occupational therapy, which my mother has taken advantage of and has enjoyed.
The administrative staff is excellent — caring, helpful, concerned, responsive to needs. I am grateful for how easy it is as the daughter living nearby to interact with them.
I am very pleased with my mother’s experience at Five Star and feel lucky to have such a place so close to where I live. I know my mother is happy and engaged, and feels a growing sense of community around her.

This place is a dump. I made the mistake of placing my mom here for a few months, before I quickly realized it is a complete disaster. The food was disgusting, the hallway carpets over time became run down. The hallway bathrooms were filthy and the medical staff was mediocre at best. They forgot to administer my mom’s medication on at least 3-4 different occasions. It’s a shame because the front office staff was generally helpful, but ever since this place changed ownership, it seems like the quality has downgraded significantly. If you are thinking of this place for a loved one, please do not make the same mistake I did. This place is trash!

My mother and father were residents at F ...
My mother and father were residents at Five Star for a total of almost 7 1/2 years. My mother continued to live there for 5 years after my father passed. When they first moved in it was a much different place. The adequate staff was amazing, the food was good, the facility was clean. Mom and dad were well taken care of and happy.
In the last few years the facility has gone through many changes since Covid. They lost a lot of great employees and hours were cut back to practically one aid per floor at night exhausting the one person who has to care for all the residents. I usually stayed there for 3 nights at a time and over the years and witnessed it all myself. I usually stayed on weekends because that is when staff attendance had the most issues and the food was the worst.. The issues were really getting worse in 2023, mom kept telling us she would ring and no one would come help her at night. While staying In October I found an aide sleeping at a desk at 2:00 am after my mom rang her bell for help and no one showed for the second night in a row. I had to go wake her up to get help for my  mom. The food had become so bad my sister prepared meals and stocked mom’s freezer so she would have decent meals. The cleanliness…there isn’t any. The whole place needs a deep cleaning. The rent kept going up and the quality kept going down.
The floor nurses and the aides are the superstars of the facility. They are there for the residents and work tirelessly without breaks. This facility needs to make some serious changes and appreciate the employees that are on the frontline caring for the fragile residents of Five Star.
My mother passed in November 2023.
I am sorry to say I would not refer a friend of family to live at this facility.

It would take all day to share all of the wonderful experiences my Mom and our family have already had since she moved into the Five Star Premier Residences of Hollywood. Let me tell you, we looked at a lot of other communities and no other place felt like home or compared to the warmth and feeling of family that this community possesses. It is like a little city and there is so much to do. Every single day mom calls me to share all of her adventures, classes, shows, and tells me the names of her new friends. I cannot thank the staff enough for making this transition so smooth for my mom and our family!

1/10 ***EDIT/READ**** Editing my initial review below, because I cannot respond to the companies generic response about calling them to resolve this matter. During my Mother’s stay again, it was the worst experience of my life! The fact that they are reaching out to me now is a joke, I REITERATE, DO NOT HAVE YOUR LOVED ONES SUBJECTED TO TGIS ABUSIVE PLACE. I almost begged these people to be kind and was forced to remove my mother from this place so please do not try to reach out to me now to find out what can be done too little too late!!!
My mother was a resident for 6 months and it was the worst experience of her life.  The lack of compassion and the inconsistencies on the behalf of the staff and management was horrific!  As a result my mom now has Dementia and has set her back terribly!  I strongly urge you not to put a loved one in this facility. It looks good but it is appearance only.  Please do not even think about this place for anyone you care about!!!!!!!!!  They don"t deserve any stars!
