I scheduled a tour at 101 Mizner on August 1st and filled out all the necessary information on their website. However, when I arrived at the office, my experience was far from what I expected from a luxury building. Upon walking in, I was greeted by loud music, which may not be to everyone’s taste. The staff had no record of my appointment. The concierge showed no interest in greeting me or making me feel welcome when I mentioned my appointment.
After a while, someone (whose name I later learned was Alfredo) came to assist me. He didn’t introduce himself and rudely asked me to fill out another form, despite my explaining that I had already completed it online. He insisted that I fill out the form, stating it was a mandatory procedure. His manner was quite off-putting, making the tour feel more like a series of orders to follow rather than an inviting experience.
As we proceeded to the elevator, I asked him to start explaining the amenities and the building while we walked. His response was that he would conduct the tour at his own pace and treat me like anyone else. Despite my reservations, I decided to give him a chance.
In the elevator, Alfredo asked where I currently lived. I didn’t feel this was relevant to my tour, so I politely asked for more information about the building instead of sharing personal details. He became visibly upset, accusing me of being unkind and suggested I speak with the manager because he felt offended by my communication. It seemed like I had to cater to his comfort rather than the other way around. I asked for the manager’s name, and he replied that the manager would provide it.
Fortunately, the tour took a positive turn when Catherine, a very sweet, nice, and professional staff member, took over. She provided all the necessary information and followed up with me after the tour. The amenities were nice, although there was no hot tub. There were also several hidden fees, including a mandatory $120 internet fee and parking fees. Additionally, the parking spots were very small.
One side of the building faces ongoing construction, and the other side is near an intersection. Given these factors, charging over $3000 for a small one-bedroom apartment seems overpriced. The experience with Alfredo certainly did not convey the luxurious vibe that 101 Mizner claims to offer.
Hope other people have better experience with this building.
