Honest and Straightforward Review Good:
During my 3-year residency, there were positive aspects I appreciated. The location. The recently renovated lobby and elevators had a modern and sophisticated look. The new SwiftLane smart/video entry system for package delivery was convenient, and the management team addressed issues with USPS refusing to deliver mail. Many units had wrap-around balconies, and our upstairs neighbor's child would occasionally drop toys, which we kindly returned. The building allowed two pets based on our application, and the cleaning staff maintained clean hallways.
Bad:
There were areas that needed improvement. The gym's front area flooring remained unrepaired for the entire 3 years, appearing tornado-stricken. The non-functional treadmill and gym itself emitted an unpleasant odor (reminiscent of a highschool locker room). USPS delivery person Acosta was consistently rude, refusing to deliver packages and marking our mailbox as vacant. Eventually, we became so frustrated that we rerouted all USPS packages to our family's residence nearby and relied on Amazon's reliable delivery system, which operates independently from USPS. The fire alarm went off randomly throughout the day, emitting a nonstop high-pitched sound that could cause irreversible hearing damage/tinnitus and the only way to escape is by going outdoors. As an ENT healthcare worker, I encounter hearing loss daily first hand. I can't imagine how terrifying it is for children or pets in the building. Upstairs neighbors threw dirty water onto uncovered cars, with no compensation or solution from the biased HOA even with footage.
Our initial experience at the management office was marred by rude and condescending front desk staff. Processing paperwork took weeks, while the "building manager" Monica (stereotypical "Karen" archetype) gave trivial selective violations and feeding stray cats in the garage instead of addressing our concerns. Monica was displaying a lack of understanding, pettiness and issuing passive-aggressive warnings of violations/lawsuits if we did not comply to minor issues. Trivial emails sent warning about visible floor mats and holiday decorations. For one of the many confrontations, we tried to ask Monica to be understanding as one of us is recovering from an injury and another is a full-time healthcare worker but was ignored.
If they really cared about how the apartment looks then they would repair the common area within these past 3 years! We were also unfairly accused of being the only ones placing furniture in the trash area where other residents also did as well (we just copied them!), but Monica selectively targeted us with a 10PM aggressive email stating we were solely the ones responsible and threatened legal action. We even have footage from our ring doorbell of her speaking bad about us to our front door neighbor! This discriminatory treatment left us feeling frustrated and unheard, even when we made genuine efforts to find a reasonable solution via text. Any explanation or reasoning was ignored and only replied with the violation itself. Using aerial footage, you can see MANY other units violating the "rules" similar to the balcony "violation" we were issued. However, our friendly neighbors on the same floor and landlord maintained open mature communication during our stay.
Ultimately, I'm relieved to be upgrading to a newer luxury apartment with actual functioning amenities (not only a gym), water view, and a welcoming leasing staff. Good luck to the future residents!
