My partner and I were thrilled to find Modera Skylar with a great location, and spacious layouts and balconies, but that's about all it has going for it now. We must've caught it on a "good day" when we toured 3 months ago, because shortly after moving in, the pool was drained with no explanation, and we immediately began experiencing issues with the elevators - in the 2.5 months we've lived here, I've not once been able to enjoy the pool that was promised in the amenities laid out in the lease, and I'm certain that all 3 elevators have only been working at the same time only a single day in the time we've been there. The one elevator that DOES work is rickety at best, skips floors, gets stuck, and drops like we're on the Tower of Terror. It's a SAFETY hazard, even more-so than the significant inconvienience it causes. The elevators are nearly a year past inspection, likely because they wouldn't pass. Management sends elevator crews what seems like daily, but all it ever is, is a bandaid that only lasts for about a day. Where's the permanent fix? And back to the pool, why were the permits not secured with the City BEFORE the pool was drained and the deck was closed? To top it off, there is barely any communication about these concerns.
I should also mention that the past two nights in a row and at least twice otherwise, the building fire alarm has gone off around 10:30pm, with no explanation. I have PTSD from having experienced a partial building collapse at a previous apartment, and it is traumatizing not knowing whether or not these instances are true emergencies.
My heart goes out to Donyei in the leasing office for having to field constant calls from unhappy residents, we know it's not her fault, neither do we blame our building maintenance who've been nothing but efficient and responsive. It is truly disappointing to read through the reviews, all of which echo my own sentiments - it is even more disappointing to read through management responses to the reviews with the same tired apology for the "inconvenience" and an empty assurance that they are working on these things.
At this point, we all need a detailed explanation of WHAT exactly they're doing to remedy the safety and inconvenience concerns. This goes far beyond management - Mill Creek should be embarrassed about how they handle business and the safety and security of their residents. Actions speak louder than words - there have not been much of either. We SHOULD at the very least, be getting a rebate on rent and amenities. But if they won't do anything for the current residents, I can only hope that the threat of losing money from prospective residents as a result of these reviews will finally drive action.
