First, thanks for checking the 2 stars reviews. We all know 1 star and 5 star reviews mean nothing, so you did the first good choice. I lived 4 years in this hell, I have things to say. Second, the tl;dr version of this review is STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUILDING. I would go further: STAY AWAY OF ANY MELO PROPERTY. They all share kind of the same issues. But I would say Square Station is by far THE WORST.
Ok, now for the reasons why. Grab your popcorn and join me.
Let's start with the good, because they are few. I will give this place an extra star because of its location (1) and overall good state of apartment and appliances (2), even though the tub, faucets and other details fell cheap and far from what they sell you as "luxury". The management is really helpful and polite (3), but usually busy and absent due to the handling of the many issues that take place there.
Now the bad/ugly, starting with the walls (1), they are very thin, there's no noise isolation, you will hear your neighbor kids, moanings, dogs, etc. Another bad aspect is the valet parking (2) which shares space with resident parking and will make your life hell because of the extra traffic of cars and unknown people in the vicinities. There are 11 floors of parking (3) and everyone drives like crazy up and down so it is not uncommon crashes inside the parking area. The security is non-existing (4) and the place feels like an extension of the city's public areas, I'm not exaggerating. Be ready to loose several packages (5) because package pirating is rampant due to lack of control of building access. Most of the units are subleased (6), meaning most of your neighbors (if you can say that) will be young people renting a bed or a room, and the building has no control over who are these residents. The building is constantly featured on "Only in Dade" Instagram (7), where you find good FloridaMan material of people doing illegal things or borderline crazy stuff. Some examples of the last one: someone threw their dog from the 30-something floor down, another apartment was apparently operating like a illegal plastic surgery (!!!) facility. Employees of Melo call this place Shooting Station (8) for a reason, because of "incidents" in and around the building. Now let's talk about the neighbors (9): the profiles are basically young people with don't-care attitude, e-g**ls/b*ys, s*x workers, s**ar babies that just magically appeared straight from east Europe, besides other people with notably gray area business (but I guess the last is everywhere in Florida, only in that place you will feel the pure elixir of that stuff). It feels like GTA6 HAS TO feature this building, I'm telling you. The garage where you leave with your dog is constantly smelling trash (10) because it is basically shared with the waste trucks, meaning you and your pet will constantly step on trash. Speaking on littering (11), I'm honestly sorry for the people that try to maintain the place, because your dirty neighbors will let trash in elevators, halls, you name it. That includes, of course, dog waste. It is common, and nothing can be done because enough people living in there are basically not civilized in that aspect. Many homeless and people with mental issues around the area (12), due to the big shelter place just around the corner. While this is not an issue per se, some of them are aggressive and there were incidents of people being assaulted by some of them.
I will keep adding to this post if something else occurs me. So, honestly, for 3k+ you can live in another place that is really considered "luxury", whatever that means right now with the current state of Miami rental market.
