I am appalled by the unethical and unlawful practices being conducted by this condo association and the tow truck company they’ve partnered with. Recently, I was towed, fined, and booted by a company that clearly has no regard for legal protocols, nor the rights of residents. After researching Florida law, I found that placing a boot on a vehicle without proper signage or notice is, in fact, illegal. Not only were these actions unlawful, but I was also racially profiled by the white couple who operates the towing business. When I attempted to pay to have the boot removed, I was met with discriminatory treatment and a lack of professionalism. I have already contacted my attorney regarding this matter. While it may be a small fine, I will not allow this predatory and immoral business model to continue, especially as it impacts hard-working residents simply trying to live peacefully in their own community. I will be taking this to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), which oversees vehicle immobilization businesses., and I look forward to seeing just how much time and money both the condo association and the towing company are willing to waste defending such a blatant scam.
For anyone living here, be cautious, and know that your rights are being violated. This is not how a reputable business or association should operate.
