I don’t usually leave reviews, but when I do I try to be positive because it impacts peoples’ businesses. I’m writing this is a PSA. If you are looking to live at Veranda at Plantation, whether buying or renting, strongly reconsider. Background : I’ve been renting here for about a year. In that year, Castle Group the pmg (property management group that owns the building) has turned over 3 different building managers and several maintenance workers. Every few weeks, management sends us an email saying they need to shut off the water (for the entire building including your unit) for sometimes 12 hours a day. It seems like there is a perpetual leak problem or an issue with the boiler plates that has no been competently addressed despite several different contractors coming to fix the problem.
Every few weeks to months there is another water issue where they have to shut off the water for every single person in the building to “address the issues” that should have been addressed in the prior shut off. It’s like a perpetual whack a mole situation that stems from managements inability or frugalness to address the entire issue. Instead, the building manager is made a scapegoat and let go. I’ve been observing this pattern for a year now and it’s like clockwork. Each manager gets one or two water shut offs before they get let go.
I don’t mind amenities being down once in a while (which they also are) because that’s unexpected, but for an issue as important as running water, it’s an abject failure on upper management’s part to correctly identify and fix the issue.
Because I work from home, this issue has displaced me at least 9 times in the last year. A lot of the building are older folks, very sweet people, but I feel like they are taken advantage of.
If you are looking for something stable, would never in good faith recommend this place, especially if you’re buying. It’s probably not worth the headache. If you’re a student and only home to sleep, it’s probably fine, not otherwise.
